#TIMEVote: How Do You Feel About the Election Results?

Stocks down 313 points, thousands of businesses announce closings and/or layoffs in the last 3 days, military personnel being cut in half, government and space agency expecting tens of thousands of job cuts by Jan 13 due to the Obama budget plan, and my new insurance deductible beginning in FY13 is gonna be 3grand for a family of 2 because of Obamacare.  3 states vote to legalize same sex marriage, and 2 states vote to legalize marijuana.  This is what half of the American people voted for?  I don't even recognize this country anymore.

I thought the only way he was going to win was to come out of the closet.

It's easy for a person to say that the economy, the unemployment rate, and the freezing temperatures outside are all President Obama's fault, but look at the President he came behind and the mess that President Bush left behind. I doubt that would be an easy clean up for anyone. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but if you are an average working person like me that makes less than $200,000 a year then Romney could care less about you. Romney is for the rich and the middle class gets the ditch!! I am so happy that Obama got RE ELECTED for another term and I believe that he will steer the people in the right direction! GO OBAMA!!

At least we don't have to worry about widespread post-election rioting and looting. 

And I'm not really sure why the people are cheering. I can assure you the unemployed are not. 

Scared. The last four years have been the worst of my life. I've been unemployed for over a year now, I am educated, and I can't even get an interview for a cashier position much less one in my field. I know I'm not the only one who is in dire straits and many are worse off than me. The future looks even bleaker now knowing that we will have four more years of the same. 

I almost did not vote, but in the end I did & feel a need to express a slight sense of relief. The republicans have lost the Presidency & have lost the Senate. The lunatics will not be running the asylum for the next 4 years. The republicans lost rather than the democrats won. The republicans have and will continue to lose because they are not republicans (think pre-1988), they have only hijacked the name. They are a fanatic, extremist group more closely related to 16th century Spanish Christian Inquisitors or 1930's German Nazis, than to American Republicans.I only have a slight sense of relief, because voting in this country now only provides an illusion of choice. With both parties firmly embedded with their special interests, (hats off to the Supreme?? Court and their purchased and paid for Citizens United decision), political choice is now like choosing who to hand the keys to your brand new, shiny Ferrari to - a drunk or a meth head. One has no control, the other has his/her foot jammed on the accelerator, aiming right at you! Where is a viable third party when you need it? & I do not mean the Tea-Baggers! (AKA Charlie Manson Family Singers).Sure looks like its going to be an interesting ride, hope we get there, wherever that is?

Get ready for at least 4 more years of money printing and a real recession folks. Shame on America you better hunker down in those beds you just made for you, your kids and your grandkids. This second term will be much worse than the first and who will the regime "blame" this time?

Terrified! This country may not survive the lack of financial responsibility. Any other job in this country Obama would have been fired. My family is struggling and about to lose our house. The municipality my husband works for is bankrupt so we have no retirement and the housing market has plummeted so we can't even sell to pay off our debts. I just hope america is able to withstand the next few years.

I am relieved, I was never so intense after voting has I was today. The thought that Mitt might win turned my stomach over and over. Had the Republicans won, this country would be headed for so much trouble. Seeing Mitt defeated gave me hope that the public is more informed today. 

I'm relieved. After seeing Mitt tell a group of people who paid more for their dinner than the average American earns in a year that he didn't feel obligated to care, at ALL, about 47% of the people of the country he was trying to become the leader of, and seeing him pick a devotee of Ayn Rand's repulsive philosophies as his running mate, I felt deep terror at the very idea of Romney being elected. It staggers me that it was as close an election as it was. I guess you really can fool all of the people some of the time. I didn't want to vote for Obama four years ago or yesterday, but seeing what the Republicans put forward as their candidates both times more than convinced me I needed to vote AGAINST them. America is in big trouble. We need better, more qualified candidates from both sides. But seeing Romney defeated gives me  some hope that there will be a call from the public for better candidates. We can only hope!

Inflation, increase unemployment, higher taxes, more gov't control, more people with hands out, loss of morals. 

I am floating, flying higher and higher, seriously, the PRES. will have a chance to appoint more supremes, God Bless America................IMAGINE
