Mitt Romney’s Transition Website: Where ‘President-Elect’ Romney Lives On

Like most vanquished candidates, Mitt Romney’s website displays a simple “Thank You” message along with an banner image of the nominee framed by the waving American flags of his supporters. But what if country had woken up Wednesday morning and pundits like Karl Rove and Michael Barone were actually right, and Romney had defeated the president handily?

Courtesy of Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire, curious voters still wondering how it would look to see “President-elect” in front of the Republican candidate’s name now have their chance. In the final weeks of his campaign Romney had been preparing a transition team, dubbed “The Readiness Project,” meant to help him prepare for the long list of accomplishments he had slated for Day One of his administration. At one point, Politico reported that the team was comprised of “more than 100 officials” getting prepped for the post-Barack Obama era.

(MORE: Voting with the 1%)

Goddard captured a few screen grabs of an errantly live transition team website intended to show America what to expect from a Romney administration. And what does this parallel universe look like? Well, sort of like a Mitt Romney stump speech. “Smaller, Simpler, Smarter” is the mantra on the transition site, along with “Believe in America.” There’s news about how to attend the inauguration and assurances that a Romney administration would select people of the “greatest ability and highest ethical and professional integrity” to serve with him.

The Huffington Post reported that the site was built by a company called SolutionStream and one of the owners said the mockup was created  in “a day and a half.”

“President-elect Romney is working closely with his transition team to put together his administration to ensure a smooth transfer of power on January 20th 2013 and get to work for the American people,” reads one page. Here’s what appears to be the President-elect Romney homepage (see more of the site here):

As my previous post indicates conservatives should start becoming very selective with their patronage.

People voted to steal from your wallet you should now control every dollar you voluntarily spend. They can call Obama.

TIME you think things are bad now? You have created a new wave of activists to fight the no longer free media.

Conservatives call your local hair salon and let them know if they carry issues of TIME or Newsweek after 3 months you will no longer give them any business. Unless you have a particular person cut your hair every time finding a new place is easy.

The media can continue talking trash all they want but fact is Romney ran a classy campaign

TIME I hope all you biased media are ready for the impending storm. You have zero credibility left after the 2012 election.

The media and poor decided to wage war on the middle class. They will find out that is a grave mistake. I hope Obama

The words "President" and "Romney" should never be mentioned TOGETHER again. You lost Romney! As you drove off with Tagg in his silver Saab with no secret service motorcade, the reality set in. Im actually sorry you didn't win, maybe not as sorry as Ann because she was dressed to impress on election night, desiring ONLY to leave with a winner! It's amazing how quickly the media switched their butt kissing back to Obama once they knew he clinched the election. Romney had already become has-been in their world. There's no points for second place, inaugurations either lol.

Romney lost because Israel was more important to him then America. Netanyahoo and Adelson more important then the 47% of America he wrote off.  The voters saw through it and elected the real American. Romney is free to move to Israel and enjoy his money with his buddy Adelson.

Obama supporters....always blaming everyone else. Talk about Republicans having sour grapes because Romney lost. No, I dont have sour grapes I have disgust and contempt for those of you that are so selfish you voted for a man that allows you to stay on government assistance and doesnt ask that you earn your own way and have self-respect and pride. You think Obama still 'cares' about you now that he got your vote? Nope...you were just a vote to him. He is back to hanging with the rich, golfing and vacationing while you are sitting on government assistance which will eventually run out since we dont grow money trees and there eventually wont be enough to fund it all.

@jpg82 What exquisitely convoluted logic!! The people whose candidate won "always blaming everyone else"? We're celebrating . . . Fox News is running through their blame rolodex . . .  Silly sour grapes grump.

@jpg82 Majority of the welfare recipients are White ,Old Republicans !!

The anti Obama bias is racial BS !!

Fox News which has been running the GOP, has succeeded in creating an environment of bias !!

And it did not work !!

@jpg82 Welfare has a LIFETIME limit of 60 months. Welfare recipients must follow the Welfare to Work rules ( NO President Obama did NOT end that, it's still the rules) which mean they must participate in a work/training program for a minimum of 30 hour per week in or to keep benefits. It's not easy to get welfare, take a look at your states government welfare website and READ the requirements to qualify for welfare, food stamps, medicaid. You'll be surprised how low income has to be, say, for a family of four to qualify for assistance. And, what they do get, if they do qualify, isn't that much!

I was devastated when you did not win Governor Romney! I had such hope with you as President. No matter how low class and tacky the Obama campaign was, you kept it classy, professional and were a elegant gentleman. Obama won by buying votes, lying, cheating and does not deserve to sit in the Oval Office and have a place in Presidential history. I was hoping I would see First Lady Romney instead of that tacky, classless woman.

jpg82 wrote:   "was hoping I would see First Lady Romney instead of that tacky, classless woman."  If you are referring to First Lady Michelle Obama, your credibility has just sunk lower than a snake's belly button. As a matter of fact, ironic I am sure, I find you beyond classless and tacky.

MichaelDriver
MichaelDriver like.author.displayName 1 Like

@jpg82 First Mr Romney is no longer referred to as Governor, as he is no longer Governor of Massachusetts! That title, just like President, can only be used by the current holder of that office. It is disrespectful to the current holder of the office to call a former holder of the office by the title! Look it up in Forms of Address. A former Presidents title reverts to Mr (or Mrs/Ms), or a former title held as in the case of Dwight D Eisenhower, which his title reverted to General. The President Obama campaign was not as you said "low class, and tacky". Romney did not as you said "keep it classy, professional and were an elegant gentleman." President Obama dis not "win by buying votes, lying cheating, blah, blah, blah" And, calling the First Lady a "tacky, classless woman" is disrespectful to the office of the President of the United States of America, The President, And the First Lady. You Ma'am, come across very strongly as a snob. A typical wealthy elitist. You're used to seeing Black Americans as servants, not your  (gasp!) President!

MichaelDriver
MichaelDriver like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

First, Romney is no longer governor of Massachusetts. The only one that can properly use that title is the CURRENT governor of Massachusetts. Same with former presidents. When there is an office that is held by one person at a time, they are the only one entitled to use the title. In Romney's case his form of proper address would be Mr. Romney. Look up Forms of Address, if you don't believe me. Second, you need to reverse the names in your statement about the campaign. You've got it completely wrong, and reversed! @jpg82

@jpg82 I do as well.   No sense in me sying anything this is so very well put.  I am happy with all of the good things said here about the Romney family.  I feel so sorry for the people who voted for this awful person, if they really truly think he will change anything for the better.

Someone put it as MATH 101,  No company's, no taxes, no jobs no taxes, where do all of these people think anything in our country is coming from, maybe the well run postal service, etc., etc., etc. When will the money run out for all the politicians pockets, when will we run out of fuel for our beautiful airforce 1?????  It should need a new motor by now or buy one with CHINA money.

MichaelDriver
MichaelDriver like.author.displayName 1 Like

@ElizabethClarke @jpg82 So well put? You mean in the sense of the perspective of the elitist, wealthy, snobs? "this awful person"? Do you refer to our President? President Obama. Duly elected President of the United States of America. The most powerful, the wealthiest, most influential nation on earth. The most powerful Man on the Planet. You show complete disrespect for our President, and the Office of The President! And, your statement about No companies (by the way you spelled it wrong) , no taxes, etc. was either an incomplete sentence or it just plain made no sense. FYI the top tax rate for the wealthiest, at one time was 90% ! And, you know what? Businesses were still opened, companies were still started, factories were still built, jobs were still created, and the wealthy were still wealthy and made more money. Taxes pay for needed services, police firefighting, military, etc. Roads, water, power plants, schools, etc Social services, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps, care of the severely handicapped, etc Many, many, many things that we ALL rely on every day that we just simply take for granted. We all should pay our FAIR SHARE of taxes. Not just the middle class. The wealthy manage to evade much of their taxation through offshore tax havens, tax deductions that only they are allowed, etc Speaking of that why should I pay twice the tax rate that Mitt Romney pays on over 500 times the income that I have? That is plain unfair! And, you mention China, Mitt Romney, and His company Bain Capital (he holds 51% of the company-controlling interest) sell American companies to China and outsource American companies and jobs to the Chinese. Other wealthy do this, too! Talk about Chinese money, and goods! This behavior evades US taxes, eliminates tax paying American jobs, and makes the super wealthy even wealthier, who then hide their money offshore and evade paying US taxes! Ma'am, DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!

Mr. Romney, I have nothing but respect and admiration for a well fought presidential race you have done.  I am afraid what might happen to America now that Obama has been re-elected.  You have shown what a true gentleman and a true leader is.  The fact that you still have been working on election day (a 24/7 guy) shows the kind of person you are and your work ethic in life speaks for itself.

@angeld616 I agree -I think he'd have made a great President, and it's such a shame he won't get that opportunity now.  I hope he is offered a role in public life somewhere -he has good ideas and an excellent work ethic.

Well said WeiLing....It's a shame that Romney won't be able to put all of his talents and work ethic to use getting this country going again. I don't think he was prepared to run a political race with the likes of Obama and his liberal thugs. With the help of the mainstream media, they managed to destroy a successful, religious, charitable, hard-working father and grandfather. And our replacement? A dishonest, ideological lazy community organizer who never had a real job in his life. Good choice guys. You all deserve what is coming. You think he's going to take from the rich and give to the poor, is that it? Well, that's what America has always done. We're the most compassionate country in the world. But when you start taking an ever increasing amount from that those who 'have' and give it away to those who don't, the American work ethic is gone. Why work hard to provide a better future for your family, just to turn around and give it to someone who doesn't want to do that work? Why bust your ass at work when you can sit around and collect a check? Wealth that is re-distributed and not created cannot last.  Just ask Spain and France and Greece how that's working out for them. WeiLing is exactly right, if we're too dumb and lazy to vote for Romney, then we deserve Obama.

@LoveMyCountryBlackAmerican I think it is time to drop all of  YOUR racial things, It is pretty true the blacks are way more racist than any other race on the face of the earth.   YOU SHOULD BE SO HAPPY TODAY YOU WOULD HARBOR NO ILL WILL FOR ANYONE.  Your man will not protect you from anything, or us either.  You will be the biggest losers of all in this.  This thing was your great hope.  Well you can have him.  Just change your attitude you will see what a wonderful world it is, or was.  I would bet in your life you have met some really nice white people.  IT is fellow americans not follow americans.

I'm going to let all of the other baseless and untrue rhetoric ride, but I do have a question regarding this statement: ""It is pretty true the blacks are way more racist than any other race on the face of the earth." Exactly how many groups of people have blacks enslaved, denied civil rights, lynched, stolen land from or otherwise oppressed while in America?

Have a REVOLUTION!  Get rid of the politicians sitting on their assess up in Capital Hill. They don't know how to manage our country to begin with.  Have business owners and professionals who knows how to manage a country financially.  They are the ones that can make a difference getting our country back on track.  Business owners and professionals knows what it takes how to overcome the challenges that lies ahead and be suceessful. As for the  politicians,  stop blaming and pointing fingers at each other. They need to grow up and take full responsibility of their actions.  Are we better off now than 4 years ago????

@bellagrace2012 @FableTheUnicorn @ReverendJohnW  -

A white man asked his black friend " Are you going to vote for Barack Obama just because he's black?" The black man responded by saying, "Why not? Hell in this country men are pulled over every day just because they are black; passed over for promotions just because they are black; considered to be criminals just because they are black. Thousa...nds of white voters won't be voting for him just because he is black! However you don't seem to have a problem with any of that! This country was built with the sweat and tears of black slaves; and now a black man has a chance to lead the same country, where we weren't even considered people, where we weren't allowed to be educated, drink from the same fountains, eat in the same Restaurants, or even vote. So yes I am going to vote for him! But it's not just because he's black, but because through his leadership several of Americas most elusive enemies were brought to justice; our economy, health and environment improved; and our good reputation around the world has been restored. He is hope. He is change. He is wise. He is a man of integrity and intelligence. He is a man of faith and perseverance. A man of maturity and good judgment. He is a faithful husband and father. And he now allows me to understand when my grandchildren say they want to be President when they grow up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. They now see, understand, and know that they can achieve, withstand, and do ANYTHING that they can dream for themselves.. So no, I am not voting for him because he is black... I'm voting for him because "I'M BLACK."
