In Saturday Night Live‘s first episode following the 2012 election, Jay Pharoah continued perfecting his Obama impersonation. He appeared on the “Weekend Update” segment as a smug, newly re-elected Commander in Chief, explaining to his Republican critics, for example, that “the number of older white men in this country is shrinking. Meanwhile, a Hispanic gay woman is born every eight seconds.” In other words, his support base will only continue to grow.
While the President seemed rather upbeat and energized (he even encouraged host Seth Meyers to “bounce” with him), he did have this to say: “I want to assure the American people that I learned a lot from my first term that I’m ready to apply to my second–mainly that this is a terrible job, and I hate it.”
