Want to see a carefree member of the First Family—one with no worries about the fiscal cliff, childhood obesity, college applications or middle school drama? If so, feast your eyes on Bo Obama, the huggable, lovable First Dog that undertook the auspicious task of inspecting the White House’s holiday decorations all under the watchful eye of a camera crew. The White House posted the video of the four-year-old Portuguese Water Dog bopping around his luxurious digs, only to encounter a pom-pommed version of himself wearing a Santa hat.

Bo’s rounds were performed in advance of the expected 90,000 visitors who will come through the White House during the holiday season. The White House Christmas tree, sometimes referred to as the “People’s Tree,” will be lit by House Speaker John Boehner during a December 4 ceremony. This year’s holiday theme is “Joy to All.” The tradition of choosing a Christmastime theme goes back to 1960, when First Lady Jackie Kennedy designed a Nutcracker-themed display for her daughter Caroline.
