Two Georgia men are accused of stealing $65,000 worth of chicken wings using a forklift and a rental truck.

With the price of chicken on the rise and the Super Bowl coming up, it seems that some people are desperate to get their hands on some chicken wings. Two men working for a frozen-food distribution center near Atlanta were arrested last week for allegedly making off with $65,000 worth of frozen chicken wings, ABC News reported.

The police said Dewayne Patterson, 35, and Renaldo Jackson, 26, both employees at Nordic Cold Storage, are charged with theft, according to CBS Atlanta.

A police report stated that on Jan. 12, the two men allegedly backed a rental truck to a bay door at the center and proceeded to load 10 pallets of Tyson frozen chicken wings, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The suspects made off with the poultry but were seen by management. The managers told the police that Jackson used a forklift to load the wings into the truck while Patterson was on the lookout, according to the International Business Times.

Every year, the cost of chicken wings soars at the end of January as restaurants prepare to feed hungry fans during the Super Bowl, according to CNN Money.

Prices usually go down soon after. But that didn’t happen last year because droughts in the Midwest drove up feed costs, CNN Money reported. The result: some pricey chicken wings.

Alas, the chicken-wing bandits didn’t pull off the heist. They were arrested on Jan. 23 by investigators at the Gwinnett County Police Department. They were released on a $2,950 bond, according to the Journal-Constitution. Both face felony-theft charges.

The police said they still don’t know the whereabouts of the estimated 26,000 lb. of wings stolen from the facility, CBS Atlanta reported. Sounds like someone could be having one heck of a Super Bowl party this weekend.

If you're going to go with the predictable pun headline, do it right -- "Fowl play."
