A motorcyclist in eastern China cheated death when a truck attempting to negotiate a sharp bend toppled over, almost crushing him completely.
The lucky rider backed up just in time to avoid being flattened by the vehicle. Visibly shaken by his ordeal, the man takes off his helmet before wandering the crash site in a daze.
Traffic cameras at the intersection in Xushi Village, in the city of Linhai, Zhejiang Province, captured the hair-raising accident on Jan. 22. The truck driver denied any responsibility for the crash when talking to local journalists afterwards.
“I was driving the truck downhill at a speed of around 10 kph,” he said. “As the road winds here the back compartment of the truck tilted to the right hand side and flipped over which was followed by the front of the truck.”
The terrified driver of a black sedan who was also waiting at the stoplight slammed into the car behind in an attempt to put some distance between himself and the wayward lorry. Remarkably, no one was killed or injured in the incident.
Compilations of Chinese traffic accidents receive hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube. In 2010, Chinese police recorded more than 200,000 road accidents that led to death of injures including over 65,000 fatalities, reports Yahoo News.
