Get ready, Drake fans — because Drizzy’s back.

In a message on his OVO (Octobers Very Own) website, Drake introduced first song as a solo artist since Take Care was released in November 2011, according to New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

“It has truly been too long,” the rapper continues as he explains the impetus for his new album’s lead single, “Started From the Bottom.”

“I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events.  My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve.”

Drizzy, who proclaimed he was the “first person to successfully rap and sing,” opted out of interviews, radio and press to launch his latest single, and instead released it through his website. “It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me,” he wrote.

The first single off his upcoming third album was released Friday night – both original and clean versions – more than a week earlier than the anticipated Grammy-night debut, Rolling Stone reported.
