Justin Bieber paid a visit to SNL this week as both host and musical guest, to the delight of Beliebers everywhere (and to the dismay of… non-Beliebers everywhere.) He took the exposure as an opportunity to address a recent scandal that has had his fans in quite a tizzy.

You see, photos of the Biebs smoking what most definitely appeared to a blunt surfaced in January, and though he never officially commented, he did tweet the following message shortly after the pictures leaked: “i see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u. #beliebers.” But come on, people: the Biebs is almost 19, and it’s entirely possible a that a wealthy young man on the downward slope of teenagerdom will sometimes do grown-up things like smoke marijuana and flip people off.

So, in one of the episode’s skits, Bieber played the president of the Miley Cyrus fan club, giving him an opportunity to poke fun at his own fame. The character visits Miley Cyrus’s hypothetical talk show and tells the pop starlet (played by Vanessa Bayer) that she’s “lightyears better than that douche Justin Bieber … He looks like a lesbian … I heard he still has his baby teeth.” Who doesn’t enjoy a good joke at the Biebs’ expense? But then he segues into the apology. “I also heard he got busted for smoking weed, and he’s really sorry about it, and that people make mistakes and he’s never gonna do it again.”

Of course, this slightly awkward apology didn’t clarify one thing: Is he sorry he smoked weed, or is he sorry that we live in a world where it’s ridiculously easy for photos of him possibly smoking weed to get leaked on the Internet? We’ll let the true Beliebers answer that question.
