England’s House of Commons has hosted plenty of political parties — from Labour to the Tories, the Green Party to the Scottish National Party — but we bet they’ve never had a party like this one. Fatboy Slim has been invited to play a gig inside the halls of Parliament.
DJ and producer Norman Cook, a.k.a. Fatboy Slim will perform at the Terrace Bar of the House of Commons on March 6th. He will be spinning records alongside the winner of the House the House competition, an initiative sponsored by Mike Weatherley, a member of Parliament who was once a music executive, to encourage young music fans to get more involved in their communities. While it’s not the first time that the halls of the House of Commons have been filled with music, it is the first time a DJ has had the honor.

“I’ve played some exciting and unique places around the world, from Bondi Beach to The Great Wall of China to an igloo, but playing in the House of Commons might be the most unique to date,” Fatboy Slim said about the upcoming gig — organized by the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation. “Music is a huge part of my life and to give something back in this way is amazing.”
Cook is best known in the U.S. for his work with The Housemartins in the 1980s as well as his collaborations with director Spike Jonze and the 90s hit “Praise You.” He has won ten MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards.
