Meteor Dazzles East Coast Night Skies

No, that was not a plane on fire. It was a meteor.

In this image taken from video provided by Tom Hopkins of Hopkins Automotive Group, a bright flash of light, top center, streaks across the early-evening sky in what experts say was almost certainly a meteor coming down on March 22, 2013 in Seaford, Del.

A meteor streaked through U.S. eastern skies Friday with more than 300 reported sighting it in 13 states, according to Reuters.

The American Meteor Society confirmed the meteor and cited reports from Canada down through North Carolina and even as far inland as Ohio at about 8 p.m. Described as more fiery than Venus and about the size of an exercise ball, the spectacle triggered an outpour of social media response late into Friday, CNN notes. Throughout the evening Twitter was flooded with tweets about sightings of the phenomenon.

Bill Cooke of NASA’s Meteoroid Environmental Office told the Associated Press that the fireball appeared to be as bright as the full moon. “The thing is probably a yard across. We basically have [had] a boulder enter the atmosphere over the northeast.”

A fireball is a meteor that is larger than normal according to a statement from the American Meteor Society’s Robert Lunsford. It is rare for a person to witness one or two per lifetime. In this instance, residents along the eastern seaboard and in major metropolises like New York City and Washington, D.C., were lucky enough to spot one.

The sizable meteor may have produced meteorites, or smaller fragments that sometimes hit the Earth before burning out, but if so, they descended into the Atlantic Ocean, Cooke said to CNN.

More recently, a reported 10-ton meteor moving 33,000 mph exploded over Russian skies, injuring more than 1,000 people and  leaving the rest of the world a bit unnerved about the fast, fiery rocks. CNN adds that not all were thrilled with the sighting:

ASTEROIDS, COMETS, AND METEORS ORIGINATED FROM EARTH: In the Earth's past there were powerful volcanic explosions propelling millions of tons of earth soil and rock (now asteroids and meteors which may contain organic molecules or organisms) into space. Read my popular Internet article, ANY LIFE ON MARS CAME FROM EARTH. The article explains how millions of tons of Earth soil may exist on Mars, and how debris we call asteroids and meteors could have originated from Earth. According to a Newsweek article of  September 21, 1998, p. 12 that quotes a NASA scientist, SEVEN MILLION tons of Earth soil may exist on Mars! How could this be possible? Read and find out.

Even if the right chemicals exist, life cannot arise by chance. The molecules that make-up life have to be in a sequence, just like the letters found in a sentence. Please read my popular Internet articles listed below:

The meteor story I am talking about is the one the New England scientist was talking about as proceeding down the North east Coast and seen in Canada.

When hydrate explodes it increases its volume 170 times.

In the ocean they most never reach the surface because the pressure of the ocean retards them, but they can when they are powerful enough;they would reach the sky and they appear to everyone as if they originated in the sky.  I believe the one off California they thought was a plane on fire was one, and old cement oil plug blasted out of his position by a hydrate dissociation with hydrates attached.; perhaps, someone  is shooting off flares, put the logic of probability and the speed says that they are not a bunch of meteors appearing suddenly everywhere without warning from our government.  Especially the Russian one. Only the low atmospshere weather satellite picked it up, the ones monitoring higher did not.  There was a huge earthquake in Russian just east of the Urals shortly before it happen. Russia is riddled with them; the quake could have destabilize them.

Missiles are much smaller and our government has the capability to warn us about missiles. I have research methane hydrates for 7 years.  I think we need to consider them as a possible source of bright flying lights in the sky.  Methane hydrates are also under some land masses, like the Arctic and the oil and gas industry writes about them in their reports. Read the book Beyond Oil for a short history of them.

*shrugs*  But NASA is wasted money....right?  Right?

It is the opinion of this journalist: none of them were meteors.

It  is time to consider the possiblity that they are chunks of methane hydrate exploded from below the ocean floor, dissociating as they go, burning brightly until they dissapate.

They are dissociating world wide in great numbers, and depending on the amount dissociating, it can be anywhere from a fizzel to a massive explosion, that could possibly  be strong enough to get out of the ocean bed and breach the surface of the water. The Maine coast began to have methane gas intrusion into its sea bed beginning in 1977.  They are riddle with them as far south as Belfast. Belfast has the deepest pock mark in the world at the time from methane release 35 meters deep. I have all the scientific  reports and  information on this if  Time would like them.

In addition, Time's recent story on the harvesting of methane hydrates is incomplete. Many scientists think that the dangers of harvesting them outweigh the benefits. Hydrates were discovered in 1937 by the oil and gas industry forming in their pipelines in the Arctic. They have been trying to harvest them unsucessfully for some time.

@dreamofpassamaquoddy Please explain how chunks of "methane hydrate" got into space and then got plowed into by earth? Because I'm pretty sure this thing came from the sky, not the ocean, no I'm not pretty sure, I'm 100% sure.
