Jodi Arias gestures toward the jury as she speaks from the witness stand in Maricopa County Superior Court, Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Phoenix.

Jodi Arias, an aspiring saleswoman and photographer originally from Yreka, Calif., was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting and stabbing death of her lover Travis Alexander on Wednesday. The case, which seemed to be made for the tabloids, was one of the more bizarre in recent memory and spun a tale of sadomasochistic sex, obsession, jealousy and in the end, homicide. Here are five of the strangest revelations to emerge from the trial:

1. Arias’ constantly changing story.

In a 2008 interview with Inside Edition while being held in custody, Arias said, “No jury is going to convict me. I am innocent, and you can mark my words on that.” But that attitude changed as the trial drew nearer.  In 2010 she admitted to the homicide, but said she did it in self-defense. In her court testimony, she said that Alexander had become abusive and turned particularly violent on the day of the slaying. She said that she lied about her innocence earlier because she planned suicide. Later in the trial, an expert witness testifies that Arias suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, has amnesia, and can’t remember what happened on the day Alexander died. At one point, Arias’ story became so confounding that a prosecutor and a defense expert argued over whether or not Snow White was a battered woman.

2. Creepy photos.

On the night Travis Alexander was killed, he and Jodi Arias had a sexual encounter complete with racy, pornographic photos they had taken just hours before his death. Police found them inside Alexander’s camera, which had been left in the washing machine of the Mesa, Ariz., townhouse where he lived. But the camera also included pictures of the woman dragging her dead lover across the floor, and one of her reflection in his eyes seconds before she killed him. Arias was arrested about a month later at her grandparents’ house in Yreka, Calif. She initially denied having anything to do with the incident, but when she was confronted with the pictures, she claimed armed robbers had killed Alexander and threatened her life. The bloody pictures of Alexander in the shower were the key evidence that placed her in Alexander’s home near the time of the slaying.

3. Text messages and a recording indicate a highly-volatile relationship.

People involved in sexual relationships, of course, choose many ways to stimulate each other, but the exchanges between Arias and Alexander seem to indicate that their affair went from kink to crazed. An early text from Arias read: “Hmm…if ur a lucky boy and u promise to give me a well-deserved spanking…” and other more sado-masochistic communications that we can’t post here. Alexander was also complicit in this, as indicted by a recording in which jurors heard Alexander talk about the explicit things he wanted to do to her. As their rocky hookups continued, the messages devolved into angry rants, including this one from Alexander’s phone to Arias: “You couldn’t get off your lazy butt to read it could you. (sic) That’s the sociopath I know so well. It freakin’ figures.” A later text from Arias’ lover read: “I don’t want your apology, I want you to understand what I think of you. I want you to understand how evil I think you are. You are the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

4. Juror 8 dismissed for bad behavior.

Three jurors were dismissed over the four-month course of the trial, which began in Phoenix, Arizona on Jan. 2. The most glaring breach of juror decorum came from  Juror 8, later revealed to be Daniel Gibb, who was dismissed after he was arrested on drunk driving charges. When he was picked up, he boasted to the arresting officer that he was sitting on the jury in the Jodi Arias trial, violating court instructions. Gibb, 52, was known for taking copious notes throughout his time in the jury box. He had also given witnesses on the stand several questions to answer. But after Judge Sherry Stephens dismissed him without comment, Gibb simply told KNXV-TV: “It was a privilege to know the other jurors, and I will miss them,” Gibb said in a statement to KNXV Saturday. “It was actually a great experience. Thank you for respecting my privacy.”

5. After conviction, Arias says “death is the ultimate freedom”.

She was no stranger to the media in the years of her court proceedings, and certainly had a large number of Twitter followers, but just minutes after being found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Travis Alexander on May 8, Arias, maintaining that there was no premeditation, tells KSAZ-TV that rather than being sentenced to life imprisonment, she prefers death. “The worst outcome for me would be natural life… Longevity runs in my family, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my natural life in one place…I said years ago I’d rather get death than life and that still is true today. I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I’d rather just have my freedom as soon as I can get it.” Although she expressed regret, she offered no apology to Alexander’s family. After her interview she was moved to the psych ward in the Estrella Jail in Phoenix on suicide watch.

@ ShiniquaVanterpool I am sure she was very fond of that idea from the start wasn't she?!

She should suffer with life in prison, rather than the death penalty, simply because she said that the ultimate freedom would be the death penalty.

She should be kept alive to suffer with life in prison without parole, just because she said the death penalty would be the ultimate freedom.

"The bloody pictures of Alexander in the shower were the key evidence that placed her in Alexander’s home near the time of the slaying."

There's no proof that it was even Jodi that took the shower pictures except her word. You're not going to believe her, are you? There are time-stamped nude pictures of both of them earlier in the day but no proof when Jodi left. She might not have been in Travis's house when the shower pictures were taken. Only her saying she was there. Show me one piece of proof she was in Travis's house when he was killed. There is none. Did you ever hear of a "false confession." 30% of murder confessions are from people who later are proved to be innocent.

She killed him because there was a bloody hand print with both arias and Alexander's DNA on the wall really

@MattKirby You didn't follow the trial, did you? There was so much more evidence than a few photos. Her blood mixed with Travis' blood, her hair with the root still on it, also in blood, the staged break-in and stolen gun from her grandparent's home where she was living, renting a car miles from her home, 3 gas cans filled to the brim so that she wouldn't get caught on surveillance video filling up in Arizona, dying her hair from bleached blond to brown, being arrested just minutes she was going to flee in another rented car, filled with all her belongings along with two knives and a gun, and more. This is all evidence found by multiple law enforcement agents. There were three false confessions. First, she wasn't there, second, she was there but ninjas broke in and killed Travis but let her live, and finally self defense. All of those were false confessions. She murdered Travis in a jealous rage. If it's truly self defense, there's no need to stab a naked and wet man in the back multiple times. There's no need to slit someone's throat from ear to ear, so deep that it nicks the spine. And on top of all that, there's no need to shoot someone in the head. Trust me, Matt. She is the farthest thing in the world from innocent.

@NoH8 @MattKirby (1) "Her blood mixed with Travis's blood." WRONG! Jodi's and Travis's DNA were mixed on a partial palm print - actually the outer "edge" of the hand. Jodi was the major contributor, Travis the minor contributor but the biological substance making up the DNA was not identified (could have been sweat, saliva, semen, etc) but Lisa Perry, a forensic scientist for Mesa police, stated the biological substance was NOT BLOOD. Plus, it is impossible to state when the partial palm print was left on the wall because there is no way to determine the date when the print was placed there. Jodi had been in Travis's house many times starting in 2006.

(2) Jodi was never charged with the theft of the .25 caliber gun her grandfather owned plus there were other gun thefts in that neighborhood around the same time. No proof she took the gun. Just Juan Martinez's speculation plus Martinez also accused Jodi of taking Travis Alexander's gun in his closing argument after denying Travis owned a gun throughout the trial.

(3) "dying her hair from bleached blond to brown." WRONG! Jodi dyed her hair brunette on March 20, 2008

Exchange of texts between Travis & Jodi:

March 20, 2008 (9:11pm) Jodi: "Yep, I'm definitely a brunette now. There's no turning back."

March 20, 2008 (9:39pm) Travis: "When will I see it?"

March 20, 2008 (9:40) Jodi: "In 15 minutes."

Plus, the Yreka police report on May 28, 2008, related to the theft of the grandfather's gun, listed Jodi's hair color as BRU (i.e., brunette).

That should be enough to show  people you don't know what you are talking about.

Have you seen the pics? Look at the look on. His face he knows what was going on, it is so sad this dumb bitch ruined this mans life because she claims mental illness, if that were true she should of got help and stayed the hell away from anybody that she put in danger.

This case is over.
Jodi Arias was convicted of
Premeditated 1st Degree Murder and Extreme Cruelty.
The only thing left to do is make sure JA never gets out of prison.
Just in case anyone has forgotten.
JA bought a gun two weeks after killing Travis Alexander.
She was premeditating to kill two men on a camping trip.
JA's appetite for premeditated killing has now taken root.
This planned killing was only prevented because she was
arrested just days before they were going camping.
To those who continue to believe in JA, you are in self-denial.
Two lives lost, two families destroyed. JA, you own this.
JA, HELL awaits you, enjoy.

I cannot be FOR or AGAINST the death penalty because I have an extremely biased opinion due to knowing many "murderers" currently incarcerated. I say let karma decide. If her heart was malicious and her thought process was diabolical, then she will get whats coming to her soon enough. Let  her live and be tortured either mentally or physically.

Listen here, There is no doubt in my head that Jodi murdered Travis, But I also believe that he drove her to her breaking point. I am not trying to make anyone mad or anything. I just want people to know that HLN has a very biased opinion on Jodi.. Anyone else hear about how he donated her hair to charity, and made t-shirts going towards domestic violence. So I am not here to bash anyone. I'm here to try and change your very harsh opinions on Jodi.

I would like to volunteer to strangle this piece of excrement until its dog food.

Its a good day to fight White genocide:

The WHITE GENOCIDE Mantra is a rebellion against the wholesale nonwhite invasion of white lands, a rebellion against the brutal attack on the political rights of white people,a rebellion against the theft of the inheritances of white people, and a rebellion against the cruel assault on the posterity of white people.

How is this not genocide:White countries flooded by non-whites.Whites are told be TOLERANT.Whites are forced to integrate. With assimilation we see the extinction of the White race.

Is there anything better to do than fight?

Everybody says there is this RACE problem. Everybody says this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY white country and ONLY into white countries.

The Netherlands and Belgium are just as crowded as Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this RACE problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.

Everybody says the final solution to this RACE problem is for EVERY white country and ONLY white countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.

What if I said there was this RACE problem and this RACE problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into EVERY black country and ONLY into black countries?

How long would it take anyone to realize I’m not talking about a RACE problem. I am talking about the final solution to the BLACK problem?

And how long would it take any sane black man to notice this and what kind of psycho black man wouldn’t object to this?

But if I tell that obvious truth about the ongoing program of genocide against my race, the white race, Liberals and respectable conservatives agree that I am a naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews.

They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-white.

Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white.

Your anti-White allies have defined White nations as the ONLY out of hundreds that have a "duty" to import vast legions of non-Whites and assimilate.

General W. Clark "There is no place in modern Europe for ethnically pure states".

Notice he said "Europe", not "world".

And in White non-Euro nations you anti-Whites claim they're for anyone.

Only in White countries this is going on; only anti-Whites like you are pushing it.

It's genocide.

Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-White.

@akmerideth1977@JosephBerger Silly. US has always been a White country. Read the US Constitution, first paragraph rather than the communist manifesto.

When we have: Africa for Africans, Asia for Asians, White Countries for Everybody, what do we have overtime?

We have fewer and fewer White people.

When we mix more non-whites and fewer Whites in the same living space...

In time, White extinction. Its called White genocide because this does not happen by chance. It is being forced upon Whites just like a rapist does not take no for an answer.

How is this not so? How is this not White genocide?

Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white.

You should be grateful for all that Whites have contributed to humanity instead of using the tabooed language of envy, anti-white envy.

Wow. Justice is served. Very sad for loss of Travis and a young woman made the ultimate crime...murder. Why? Sad.

An aspiring saleswoman and photographer ?!?!??! WHAT A JOKE!!!!! Try a high school dropout and part-time waitress!!! Oh, and now you can add convicted felon to the list!!
