Wendy’s Fires Employee Over Photo of Him Eating From Frosty Machine

The latest fast food prankster -- a copycat, perhaps? -- posed crouching beneath a Frosty machine, eating the soft serve directly from the nozzle.

Here’s a simple formula for getting your 15 minutes of viral fame:

1) Work at a popular fast food restaurant.

2) Have a co-worker snap a photo of you doing something gross on the job, preferably involving one or more food items.

3) Sit back and let the Internet do the rest of the work, spreading that photo across the web.

That’s what a Wendy’s employee did this week, following in the footsteps of a Taco Bell employee who caused an uproar earlier this month after a photo surfaced of him licking a stack of taco shells. The latest fast food prankster — a copycat, perhaps? — posed crouching beneath a Frosty machine, eating the soft serve directly from the nozzle.

Naturally, the Taco Bell employee was fired soon after the photo made its rounds, and it seems the Wendy’s employee has realized a similar fate. The photo initially appeared on Reddit when a user posted it with the comment, “I was going to buy a frosty from Wendys until I saw the employee do this.” The company soon caught wind of it, and has responded to the incident via Twitter:

In light of this unsettling sight, the folks over at ABC News rounded up the top 8 grossest fast food moments, beginning with these two latest examples. Warning: this is pretty disturbing. If you’re reading this while munching on a snack, you might want to save it for later.

This shouldn't just be a termination. It should be a crime - assault!. It appears that some of these folks pulling these stunts have no intention of working there and being a good employee. Rather, they merely want to pull a 'prank' to get a speck of instant fame. Too easy. Charge them with a crime and let it cost them - more than their jobs, which they obviously do not care about anyway.

No pride, lack of common sense, no morals or ethics is what is wrong with some employees.  By companies just firing these individuals they learn nothing, they just move on to the next job to resume this type of behavior.  Companies or the law need to start holding them more accountable for their actions.  As a former manager I have seen countless applications or resumes' from individuals who constantly job hop.  It becomes hard to weed out these types of individuals due to the fact, there is only so many questions you can ask from former employers or references without you or them being sued for slander.  Where I am from there are so many jobs and not enough workers forcing businesses to hire what we can.  It is very sad because our lack of customer service is something to be desired.  So Yes, I believe, if these companies or the law would start holding these employees more accountable it might keep things like this from continuing.  Also, if you can get arrested for spitting on someone and charged with assault ..... Why isn't spitting in soda, licking tacos, mouth the ice cream machine, etc... considered assault?

Lol he's back on welfare & unemployment too because that's how democrats like their supporters unemployed on welfare & unemployment living off the rest of the people so democrats can continue to hype "see isn't life good you're living how you want off the government not working this is the life isn't? I wonder if he actually got fired.  The "tweet" said "The person in this photo is no longer at this Wendy's. We will be reinforcing proper procedures."  My first thought was, "Well, if not that Wendy's, then what Wendy's is he working at so I don't order the soft server there?"

That doesn't say he was fired.  He may have been transferred to another Wendy's, or moved up the corporate ladder.   If they said, "The person in this photo has been fired.  We will be reenforcing proper procedures." then the post would have been a hell of a lot less ambiguous.  For that matter, the article also said "seems" rather than "has" met a "similar fate" to the Taco Bell licker.

So, Wendy's...  Did you fire the guy or just move him around?

If you want to stop nonsense like this then pay people a living wage and don't hire kids!  There are enough adults out there now who would be happy to work even 30 hours a week for a decent wage ...that's how bad the job situation is now.  If the kids want jobs then let them mow lawns and wash cars...most of them live at home to begin with.  But I bet everyone reading this article knows someone who is trying to support a family with one of these minimum wage jobs.  It's time for the corporations to start exercising some responsibility and take care of their people.

That's nothing compared to George Costanza cooling his feet in the soft serve.

LOL, look how dirty the floor is. They shouldn't fire him! They should make him clean the frosty machine every night for a month!

No longer at *this* Wendy's? How about no longer at *any* Wendy's? I'd certainly feel better about that.

@JustinDemoude Where does it says the employee is a kid? He looks like a adult to me. Most of these fast food companies don't hire kids as much  (at least in my area) but a lot of the adults that apply for those types of jobs most of the time are the "bottom of the barrel" with no skills or college students. What actually do you consider a "living wage"? No company who want to survive is going to pay more than what the job is worth if that is what you meant. Fast food jobs are something anybody can do, and easily replaceable. These type of jobs are really entry jobs, they are not and never were meant to be wage jobs. If someone wants to get higher pay then they should learn a valuable skill that companies want and will pay more for.

@mattyosimonson  just saw that floor, yuck. Looks like that whole place needs an overhaul or new management.
