Gorillas are some of the smartest primates to roam the planet. They share strong family bonds, make and use tools, and can even be trained to communicate with sign language.

It’s no wonder then that this ape at the Dallas Zoo figured out pretty quickly how to stop a group of kids from heckling him in April. At first, as the children shriek and taunt the ape — yelling, “You ugly!” — the gorilla just sits near the glass partition separating him from the group and seems to barely notice the commotion. But when a student points his finger at the gorilla amidst the jeers, the ape gets fed up with the bratty bunch and decides to make a move.
