Lady Gaga returned to the spotlight this week after spending a few months laying low following her hip surgery and canceled world tour. Mother Monster helped kick off New York’ Gay Pride Parade by taking the stage at Friday’s kickoff rally to offer some heartfelt words of support to the LGBT community.

“It’s my LGBT friends and fans who always said to me, I knew Lady Gaga when,” the singer said. “Well, look who the star is now. Now I get to say that I knew you when. When you suffered, when you felt unequal, when you felt there was nothing to look forward to.” Gaga then launched into the National Anthem, clutching a rainbow flag. At the end of her rendition, she changed up the lyrics a bit, replacing “star-spangled banner” with ” “star-spangled flag of pride” and “home of the brave” with “home for the gays.” Not surprisingly, the crowd went wild.

Gaga’s performance carried extra significane following this week’s landmark Supreme Court rulings. In another part of her speech, the singer said, “I would like to thank everyone from the Supreme Court to every legislator and political leader that has ever stood with us … Our evolution as LGBT citizens always continues to change and we see that the further we are able to reveal and share our lives, the further we move into the hearts and minds of other Americans.”

She is lost. I am sad to say it, but she is REALLY very lost. Rich and famous never makes you truly free. Being a star only makes you known in the limelight. This does not make you free at all. And you cannot take any of it with you when you pass on from this earth. She is only showing her allegiance to the elitist system who has embraced and deceived her. Everything she has done thus far has never been about freedom, morality, generosity or truth at all, facts known right here. A lot gets said about who she is connected to, and I do not even have to say their names. They are the people who took her and made her what she is. I cannot deny she has a good voice, but so do many others. She is using her talent for all the wrong reasons, and it is damaging her soul, growth and others around her. if you watch her, and I mean watch her closely when she sings, dances, and does her videos, you will clearly without any shadow of a doubt see her occult and dark symbolism. This comes from her deep brokenness and confusion of who she was and is growing up. She says "I knew you when" and she describes excuses of behavior that is neither moral or normal, even according to nature. You have seen how gay marriage has been because of people like this. It is both careless, selfish and demonically driven, I don't care what you believe. This is how the elites do it. And they are so crafty at it, and have been doing it for so long, that unless you really open your eyes, you would never see and understand the bigger picture. But every person on this planet needs to do just that. Because it is not going to get better anytime soon.

I am not offended at what took place, but I am offended by the Times editing. She did not sing the National Anthem. Those are not the words to the Country's anthem. She sang a Gay Pride song sounding similar to the National Anthem. Your headline and article should reflect that.

I am not offended by this. I served ten years in the United States Marine Corps along side fellow Marines that I knew were gay but it was never mentioned. Didn't need to be, didn't matter. I am not ashamed to call them fellow Marines.

  The thing that I'm ashamed of are my so called "Fellow Americans". Patriotic when it's convenient for them. 9/11 happened and everyone went out and bought their flags, hung them in their yards & in their cars. Then let them flags deteriorate and were too lazy to remove them. They finally get thrown in the trash and do they get replaced? No, no reason to, right? I can bet that the majority of the hypocrites posting here don't even know the words to the National Anthem. Don't care if it's played in schools, forget about the Pledge of Allegiance too, right?

   So, are you a real patriot? I know a lot of people will get angry and defend their patriotism. You should get angry because your fellow Americans whether gay, black, white, hispanic, female etc. are not being treated as equals. America is unique because anyone can come here and be who they want to and live without fear and be EQUAL. If you don't agree, go move to a communist country where their beliefs are just the same as yours. FREEDOM isn't only for a select few.

I knew she could sing but I never knew she could sing like this. A little more respect for her as a musician now!

To those haters who complain about her altering the lyrics, take a chill pill, this was just one occasion for a celebration, nobody altered the national anthem for good, or spread the wrong lyrics around. But perhaps you should ask yourself, was it really the ad-lib change of lyrics that bothered you? Or is it because of the specific celebration she changed it for? When people say "I'm not a racist", "I don't hate gays", more often than not, they are just about to say something showing the opposite.

The National Anthem needs NO 'adjusting' of the those lyrics! - (replacing “star-spangled banner” with “ ”star-spangled flag of pride” and “home of the brave” with “home for the gays.”) But then again, and not at all surprisingly,  respect for this country has been on a full speed, downhill slide. Gaga, has totally lost my respect of her!

Before you see my next comment, let me make it clear that I do not hate gays.  I would say this to ANYONE, gay or not.

I think that this is disgraceful!  How dare you alter those lyrics?  THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE FREE TO DO WHAT YOU WANT IS FROM THE BLOOD OF THE MEN THAT DIED TO GIVE YOU THAT FREEDOM.  and you make a mockery of it.  Shame on you.....

She, unsurprisingly, did an amazing job. Great speech and great vocals. Welcome back Gaga, show the haters how things are really done.

If you want to sing a song for a certain group - WRITE ONE!  It is disgraceful for her to change the words to a song that is about the men and women who have fought to protect this great country, to include my husband!  She should never be allowed to sing the NA again!  I can't wait for the backlash this is going to bring - she was wrong on every level to do that and should write a public apology to the Nation!  Hope her music gets boycotted!

Great, lastly its the win of rights of though and live in the same way you desire if not harming anyone, so a Gay Day.......

Lady Opportunist is not responsible for millions of Gay people finally having their rights. She is just hitching her wagon to another Popular topic and giving herself status as the spokesperson so she can take all the credit. Gay people have been working hard for decades chipping away at prejudice and now that all that hard work is finally paying off, Gaga swoops in as the opportunist she is and wants all the credit and to be the face of change--Despicable parasite she is. She is so selfish. A real histrionic.

I think Lady GaGa did an AMAZING job singing the national anthem "as it was adjusted" for the event. It was beautiful, tasteful and no I'm not gay but I have all the respect in the world for their right to be treated equally and have the same rights and opportunities as any straight person.

@Handthumb

BIG difference here between Racial or Gender Prejudice and homosexuality. I don't think I KNOW of an American that would fly the flag and then throw it in the garbage. If you served in the Corps. for 10 Years, I think you would know that.  I do not Need to "defend my patriotism". There are somethings that simply require "equality", and it goes without saying when it concerns men, women, or anyone of the many races that inhabit this planet. And, of course, you have the right to look at this person making mockery as "A-Ok" all right too ! If it was just a matter of Racial Prejudice or Gender Prejudice, there would not be a problem at all. What gaga is promoting, through the re-wording of the National Anthem is what brought her trouble (or recognition from some... sadly enough).

"America is unique because anyone can come here and be who they want to and live without fear and be EQUAL."

Unless your a white christian right. Then if you support your beliefs with words your a hate monger. So much for EQUAL.

@Handthumb This has nothing to do with supporting gay marriage, that is a whole separate issue. The problem is people are willing to make a mockery of our flag and our anthem, national symbols of our country. Homosexuality is no where close to being a symbol of our country, it is just a lifestyle. The fact that she used a 'controversial' lifestyle as part of our national symbols is the problem.

@victormontoya800   Just fcuk off .  this about freedom for gay people also and many also died  supporting America in various wars etc

BTW everyone, about 50 ggays who were arabic language translators were thrown out under DADT during the Iraq war. its well known in the mil that a number (never released) of our finest died b ecause by the time arabic written translations of intelligence were completed it was too late.

@victormontoya800 she is a songwriter who fights almost to the death for us gays...she changed the ending for Gay Pride and the SCOTUS ruling...and it gave me chills...it was beautiful

@cursedmarknaruto Yes, please show us haters how its done.   Lets get rid of our flag, our national anthem our arm forces, and everything that stands for freedom, and see how open you would feel about being an open gay or what ever you chose to be.  You call us haters, in most cases you act like a spoiled child not getting what you want when you want it.  I have to say this, sometimes the GLTG community is no better then WestBuro Church, putting everyone in an umbrella of hate, just because they disagree with your sexual life style. Most people do not hate gays, but The Gay Community sometimes responds just the way Westburo Church does.  By the way Westburo church is a VERY BIG DISGRACE.

@StanleyJames @victormontoya800 Wow so quick to throw out the word bigot. Did you guys read anything this person said? I have many gay friends who find this alteration distasteful. We aren't hating on gays at all, but your simple mindedness can twist anything someone says to bigotry if it doesn't agree with you. Just so you know, bigotry, doesn't mean disagreeing, it means being overly obsessed with your opinions and prejudiced against other opinions. That being the case, it sounds like you guys are the true bigots here.

TylerGish
TylerGish

@StanleyJames @victormontoya800 Before you engage in a diatribe with others learn to write and spell, it doesn't help your cause. Where is the citation/story on the 50 gay arabic translators? That really has nothing to do with what anyone said but I would like to see it nonetheless.

ChristineTravis
ChristineTravis

@MatthewJones @victormontoya800   It was not beautiful, as victormontoya800 stated it was the blood of men that give your freedom, you and gaga are just mocking them.  Try living in some other countries being gay and singing about gays.    You should have more respect for those you fought and died for this countries freedom.

 You're Right ! It only seems to be the followers and supporters of the LGBT community that throw an axle when anyone doesn't see things their way.  Just like a little kid that got caught doing something they KNEW they shouldn't but are damned well going to defend themselves in any way they can. Whether it's retorting with the various tags they've come to know and love, or with many of the most absurd excuses. Regardless of the "occasion" or whatever, miss gaga was out of line..end of story...

@MatthewJones @ShannaLord

Yep we should give the people like shannal to the taliban and see what they would do with her(?)

Manwhile its estimated that about 5% to 10% of oour mil are gays, more and more coming out of the closet.  For many gays thrown out of their family in an act of "xtian Love" the mil is the only family they have ever had.
