American Flags for Independence Day

It seems there’s no love for America abroad, or at least there’s less of it, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center. The United States’ global image has seen a steady decline since 2003 — when the Iraq invasion began — and has diminished even among longstanding allies like Britain, France and Germany.

Surveying 39 countries among 37,653 respondents, the study released on Thursday shows the percentage of people who view the U.S. positively has dropped over the last decade. The most negative impression stems from parts of the Muslim world, particularly Pakistan, Jordan and Egypt. Pakistan’s unfavorable view is no surprise, with deep-rooted tensions intensifying over the use of drones.

Drone attacks, it seems, have also been an international point of contention. Half or more of people in 31 of the 39 countries surveyed disapprove of U.S. drone strikes against extremist groups. In fact, the only nations in which a majority support the use of drones are Israel (64%), Kenya (56%) and the U.S. (61%).

President Obama hasn’t helped build a more favorable impression of America, either. According to the report, his international approval ratings are lower now than when he first took office. In fact, approval of his international policies has declined by double digits in Britain, Poland and France;  in China, it has dropped to half of what it was in 2009.

But don’t fret, the U.S. still has plenty of friends. Here’s a look at the top 10 countries that are pro (and anti) American.

Nations with a positive perception of the U.S.:

1. Philippines  (85%*)
2. Israel (83%)
3. Ghana (83%)
4. Senegal (81%)
5. Kenya (81%)
6. El Salvador (79%)
7. South Korea (78%)
8. Italy (76%)
9. Uganda (73%)
10. Brazil (73%)

Nations with a least positive perception of the U.S:

1. Pakistan (11%*)
2. Jordan (14%)
3. Palestinian territories (16%)
4. Egypt (16%)
5. Turkey (21%)
6. Greece (39%)
7. China (40%)
8. Argentina (41%)
9. Tunisia (42%)
10. Lebanon (47%)

Pakistan has a quaint little village where old terrorists and bomb makers missing a few fingers can retire and remain relatively anonymous.  Contact O. B. Laden for details.

Maybe The USA  should start supporting countries who likes them, rather than them giving money to countries who would still hate them no matter what the Americans would do.

How could the majority of citizens in the U.S. approve of drone strikes? Up until not long ago our government wouldn't even acknowledge we were using drone strikes, even though everyone knew we were. There's no transparency, there's no public debate. How could the public be in favor of something they know nothing about? How much are we spending yearly on drone strikes? I guarantee you, Obama isn't telling.

Why survey Pakistan? United States is covertly or overtly is at war with this nation. It is obvious. Technically, anywhere where US is directly or indirectly interfering has a negative perception of the US.

@mr.kkhan You don't give money to nations you are at war with. The U.S. is neither covertly, or overtly at war with Pakistan. I hope you just made a typo because your comment makes no sense whatsoever.

Then its another US Tax payers burden to spend much for the countries who hates America. Another form of investment nedded,  US doesn't  need to invest to the Philippines anymore because 85% of the Philippine Nationals loves US.. Its no longer a challenge for America in their view of the Philippines.. Look! Even Muslim in the Philippines loves America except the terrorist groups of Abusayaff in the down south (Sulu) close to the boundary of Malaysia and Indonesia... Or America Should Preserve these countries who loves them because losing them could have a big impact to their international image

The US aid money to Egypt, Pakistan, etc, isn't going to the benefit of the people who hate the U.S, but to prop the governments in those countries...the same governments preserving US interests in those regions.

@saqrkh droning those countries is an interesting way to get countries to like you

Best to transfer all US-hater aid money to US-likers like the Philippines and Israel, which are in serious threat from those who do not like the US anyway.

@andrewgarcia obama has personally ordered over 300 drone strikes on pakistan since being elected and you think the people there should like america?

Filipinos loves America and it's people due its historic past. Although, not much all Americans knows that, still, the Philippines has always been and be the no . 1 ally of the US in terms of battles.

So how many billions of Dollars in aid is the U.S. handing out to the countries who don't like the U.S.?
