A Marine has become an Internet hero for cheering on a nine-year-old boy who was struggling to make it to the finish line of a 5K race (just over 3-miles). Last weekend, during the Jeff Drenth Memorial 5K at the Venetian Festival in Charlevoix, Michigan, a boy identified as Brandon Fuchs got separated from the group he was running with and reportedly asked another runner, Lance Corporal Myles Kerr, if he would run alongside him to help him keep up. A photo of the pair posted on the Seal of Honor Facebook Page – set up in honor of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient, who fought in Afghanistan – has gone viral and has been shared more than 56,000 times and boasts more than 235,000 “likes” and 11,400 comments. The boy’s family gave Kerr a $100 gift card to Grey Gables Restaurant as a sign of their appreciation, according to tweets from the Marine’s Twitter account embedded on The Blaze (the account seems to be down).
