When it comes to cooling off in the hot summer sun, we could all learn a lot from a baby elephant. The newest addition to the Fort Worth Zoo’s Asian elephant ranks, Baby Belle has been enjoying her pool time with her mother, Rasha, almost as much as the internet is enjoying watching the splash-filled summertime romp.
Born on July 7, Belle is only the second elephant born at the zoo in its 104-year history. Zoo spokeswoman Katie Giangreco told the Associated Press that Belle weighed 330 pounds at birth and is gaining two pounds per day. She says the baby elephant “is curious and full of personality, learning new things every day, learning what her trunk is for, learning to use her legs.”
