48 years ago, Ed Sullivan shouted into a microphone, girls swooned, and 55,000 people strained to hear the Beatles play in Shea Stadium, kicking off the first arena rock concert.

From mop tops, to flowing locks, to Bono’s ill-advised ’85 mullet, the stadium rock concert has evolved along with the musicians and still crams hundreds of thousands of rock fans into domes. TIME put on our concert tees, grabbed our tickets, and threw our hands up in the air to find the 10 best arena rock concerts ever given. Are you ready to rock?

Yes U2 Red Rocks is one of the most legendary shows around. I'd have to say they missed Pink Floyd/Roger Waters performing "The Wall" simply the best all around show I've ever seen.
