The husband-and-wife duo Sonny and Cher Bono were pop sensations in the 1960s and ’70s—best remembered for their love anthem, “I Got You Babe.” The charismatic pair even parlayed their musical success into two television variety shows, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny & Cher Show. The couple divorced in 1975, and while Cher would move on to become a Grammy-Award winning pop singer and an Academy-award winning actress, Sonny continued his acting career and entered politics to eventually become a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in California.
