Just Salad, a New York City–based fast-casual restaurant, has launched a new dating app called Salad Match that pairs singles based on salad preference.
Signing up is pretty simple: choose your favorite kind of salad, which Just Salad location is your favorite and what time of day you usually drop into the restaurant. Your profile will then display that info and your Facebook profile picture. And that’s it. Salad Match will then match you with other singles who have your same taste and lunch schedule.
If you choose to meet one of your matches, the app will direct you to a nearby Just Salad for a date. According to the Salad Match Facebook page, users can “meet at Just Salad for lunch or dinner, schmooze over a frozen yogurt and get lost in each other’s eyes while enjoying freshly chopped salad …”
Sorry, global salad-loving community: the Just Salad chain — and therefore Salad Match — are only available in New York City and Hong Kong for now. But if food is high on your list of dating criteria, you can try out SamePlate.com, which matches users based on food preferences.
Salad Match first launched as a dating site in 2010, but the app came out in August and has just started making headlines. No word yet as to whether Chop’t — another popular New York City salad chain — is working on a competing dating product. May we suggest an app called Lettuce Go on a Date?
