Dennis Rodman Will Train North Korea’s Olympic Basketball Team

“I’ll tell you guys one thing: take me seriously.” That was Dennis Rodman’s gloriously ironic closing remark during a press conference he held on Monday in New York City to announce that he would be training the North Korean national basketball team for the 2016 Olympics. The former NBA star visited Pyongyang for the second time in six months last week and again met with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, whom he calls his “friend for life.”

Rodman also declared that he and other former NBA players would travel to North Korea to participate in a basketball tournament in honor of Jong Un’s birthday in January. He hopes that “basketball diplomacy” will help to bridge the gap between the secretive nation and the western world. Paddy Power, an Irish bookmaking firm, sponsored Rodman’s trip to Pyongyang and arranged Monday’s press conference.

On Sunday, Rodman made headlines around the world when he revealed that Jong Un has a daughter whose name is Ju-ae, and stated that the North Korean leader is “a good dad.”

Why is everybody blaming Kim Jong-un for all the starvation and prison camps in North Korea? His grandfather, and his father started all the mess and it was handed down to him. He did not start anything.

He is different from them, I agree with Dennis that he has to do "his job".

Honestly this is a step in the right direction. Do we really want to end our relationship with North Korea in nuclear holocaust? It's funny that the most diplomatic decision that the whole of the United States ever did with North Korea was done by a basketball player lmao. Open your minds people, there are HUMAN BEINGS living in North Korea.

Rodman should never again be allowed to enter the US again, for any reason.

What a traitor. That country kills, tortures, rapes, and starves hundreds of thousands of it's own people. Does he think he's got some secret plan? What is he doing? He's already famous. Stahp Rodman. Just Stahp.

As crazy as it sounds, it is a lot less crazy then Rodman acting as a ambassador.  He does know basetball.

This moron, Rodman, is not worth the time needed to dismiss him for what he is. But, anyone who admires, apologizes for, or supports this bozo should consider seeking immediate psychiatric help.

If the North Korean basketball players don't measure up to Rodman's high standards , take them out back and execute them.

Wait a minute. Give the man his due: Rodman was a terrific rebounder and played for championship teams with some great players. He will continue his successful career with Jung Un playing at center, easily able to intimidate American imperialist stooge centers such as Shaq, Howard, etc. His team of 5'3" North Koreans will show the world that North Korea is not to be trifled with. Way to go, Dennis. We are so proud of you!!!

I agree with you guys... If Rodman thinks Kim's such a good guy how about he moves there & lives like a normal North Korean. Not... an Elite North Korean. But as general population. Let's see how amazing of a guy he is... How good of a dad is he if he's leaving a country that's going to hell for his kids & kids kids?

Rodman should stay there.  He looks a fool and acts like a fool.  North Korea is a good place for him.

Rodman what a joke,he can not make money anymore and no one cares about the goofy looking moron here ,so he goes to N Korea with another nut ball that welcomes him with open arms, nose piercing and all and acts like he is some kind of envoy for obama. he needs to be debriefed by intelligence agencies. The CIA will reveal in 20 years that rodman was a cia operative.

@WilliamStollar Ok... you do realize that North Korea kills it's own people right? He's BFFs with a mas murderer. Despite his career, it's not something as a Bulls fan I'm proud of.
