A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to sell a home that didn’t belong to him on Craigslist.

John David Seiberling, resident of Golden Valley, Ariz., was taken in custody “on suspicion of fraudulent schemes and theft,” the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday, according to the Associated Press and Kingman Daily Miner.

A couple gave the suspect a $3,000 check as down payment and was told lease payments would be $300 a month, according to the Kingman Daily Miner. Police said when the keys to the house did not work, the couple reached out to the owner on the lease agreement — a completely different person who said the house was not for sale in any way.

Seiberling is being held on a $5,000 bond, the money for which he hopefully does not get by selling anything else on Craigslist.
