Watch This Baby’s Extremely Emotional Reaction to Her Mother Serenading Her

Heartbreaking Rod Stewart classic brings her to tears

Apparently babies don’t just cry when they’re hungry or when they feel like tormenting strangers on airplanes. They also cry when they hear their mothers singing gut-wrenching ballads, like this 10-month-old who was brought to tears when her mother serenaded her with Rod Stewart’s 1988 classic “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.” The baby goes through a whole range of emotions, offering the occasional wistful smile between streams of tears.

As many YouTube commenters point out, she’s likely confused rather than truly moved by the song, but come on. Whatever. Let’s just believe she had an earnest emotional reaction here. And really, can you blame her? It’s a Rod Stewart song, and she’s got two ears and a heart, doesn’t she?

Hell, I damned near cried too when I heard this loud screeching.  Did you notice that when she paused the kid was fine?  If the baby would cry when she was singing a soft lullaby that would be beautiful, this isn't!  Saying it's a Rod Stewert song and the wonderful lyrics is nonsense, like the kid understands all that.  Bye the way, the Speaker of the House started this way.

Or, this can be attributed to the wonder of  mirror receptors in the brain. Chances are it will be shown in every developmental psychology class as an example of how babies mirror the facial and emotional attitudes of those around them as they learn about how to adapt to their environments. When mom takes a big breath, she smiles at the little one, who responds in kind. When mom is in the midst of the song, she probably has a forlorn expression on her face that baby is mirroring. If mamma yawned, with this little one as attentive as she is, I bet we'd see a yawn. Beautiful baby! Clearly bright!

That poor baby! What is wrong with that mother? Disgusting.

The only emotion that baby is showing is annoyance.  It probably just crapped itself and it's mother is too self involved with posting on the internet to realize it's been sitting in it's own crap for the past two hours.

I watched this tape of this sweet baby being used to push what amounts to a free Audition for her Mother's singing career. It was so sad to see the baby's expression Go from sad teard to a weak smile every time the Mother took a breath baby thought it was over and smiled big then the Mother would continue singing and baby sadly tears up again. The baby was trying so hard to smile and not cry but the Mother insisted on singing the whole song, it got tortuous to watch,I could never make my baby feel so hurt because of my bellowing out my fave song.
