Today is the first day of the rest of Twitter’s life…as a publicly traded company, that is. Stock, priced at $26 a share last night — valuing the company at $18 billion — started trading on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange as “TWTR” Thursday morning, and as you can imagine, the 7-year-old social network has been flooded with snarky tweets.
Most are from media and Silicon Valley tweeps, like AllThingsD’s editor-in-chief Kara Swisher, who started tweeting silly questions to @DickC, CEO Dick Costolo’s Twitter account, and invoking the Ryan Gosling “Hey Girl” Meme.[tweet https://twitter.com/karaswisher/statuses/398327004879392768] [tweet https://twitter.com/karaswisher/status/398331212571217920]
From Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey (a play on the first tweet ever):[tweet https://twitter.com/jack/status/398477578136461312]
From a Twitter investor (h/t DealBook):[tweet https://twitter.com/sacca/statuses/398427475484491776]
From a Twitter employee:[tweet https://twitter.com/shinypb/statuses/398438573226983424]
