Maria Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe 2013, is crowned by Olivia Culpo at Miss Universe Pageant 2013 on November 9.

A Venezuelan television host beamed as she was crowned Miss Universe 2013 on Saturday, marking the seventh contest win for the South American country.

Gabriela Isler, whose full name is Maria Gabriela de Jesus Isler Morales, bested 86 contestants to win the diamond crown. Last year’s winner, American-born Olivia Culpo, crowned the 25-year-old, who is a TV host on Venezuela’s Venevision.

“I have a lot of emotions. I can’t describe all the things that I feel at this moment because I’m shaking,” she said.

Isler will now pose in a specially designed swimsuit worth $1 million on Sunday.

Venezuela only successful endeavor in the last 15 years is to create Miss Universe winners. Since 2008 they have won 3 times and are almost always in the top 5.  While the current winner is beautiful (lets be honest they all are) her face is  almost too perfect.  Not sure how to explain it but her face is too strong, not feminine enough. Almost plastic.  I thought Spain and Brazil were much better looking. And for god sakes, cant anyone of them answer  a question directly.  Not to blame Ms. Venezuela only, but she was asked about one of her fears and how she over came it and answered on how people should overcome fears in order to make them stronger.  They all take the question and answer  like a true politician, they answer anything but the actual question

Martineza81:  Stop feeling sorry for everyone else and start focusing on your precarious mental health!  You are just one step away from being deported to your homeland and the hole there where you sprung up:  Isla Raton!  More specifically, the Psychiatric Hospital for the Criminally insane in Isla Raton, where you were interned after going totally bonkers years ago!  Remember that you escaped from that hell hole some time ago after assaulting two hospital guards, biting a dog and violating a cow!  You are in very serious trouble!!!  I cannot say that all this comes as a surprise to me.  The moment I had the misfortune of reading one of your nasty comments, I knew that you were totally deranged!

It's always the same girls. There is probably 70 countries that have never won the contest. It won't change until someone else owes Miss Universe.

The Ms. Universe Organization/Trump should declare once and for all that Venezuela is the Winner for all Eternity of the Ms. Universe Pageant and, just leave it like that!  The Game is over!  Why continue with this stupid farce?  It’s not that I’m envious because the representative from my country didn’t win; it’s just that this time, Venezuela, DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN!  In other years in which Venezuela has won, I’ve been all for it because the chosen winner has been a marvelous example of exquisite feminine beauty, natural grace, elegance, charm and intelligence all rolled into one.  But, this year, it’s NOT like that!  Gabriela Isler is attractive in a plastic and fake sort of way, but, she’s NOT beautiful and classy.  She wears way too much make-up, her dress was downright ugly, and she never directly answered the question asked of her by judge, Steven Tyler.  There were far better qualified girls in the pageant (better in beauty, figure, poise, elegance, intelligence and simply in everything!)  But, there is something that cannot be denied, and that is the infallibility of the “Venezuelan Misses Factory.”  Even when they send inferior candidates; they win!  Well, at least for that, they should be congratulated!

Some commentors here seems that they are perfect to insult others... beauty pageant is just part of entertainment., dont took it seriously guys. Im against to racist comments, instead people should learned to have an open mind.

Check Wikipedia, and you will find that many of the Miss Venezuela winners do have  non-Hispanic surnames. The country is an ethnic melting pot, and it is not simply First Peoples, blacks, and people from the Iberian Peninsula. Venezuela had a mass early settlement of Germans.

All the comments below just seriously prove how bitter people are. And please don't act like Venezuela is the only country with models that have plastic surgery. It's part of a a Southern American culture now almost every girl has something done. That's just the day in age we live in now. Venezuela seriously prepares hard to win these contests and it shows. Of course, others were probably naturally prettier than Miss Venezuela but maybe they also lacked substance as well. People should just give credit where it's due. I'm not even Venezuelan and the comments under the post just really show how miserable people are. Besides I doubt the girls who didn't win aren't even thinking or acting like the people in these comments. They turn a negative into a positive and know how to prepare for next years contest. Miss Venezuela does not win every year. Other countries win too I just don't think they take the contest as serious as Venezuela does. This is something their country takes pride in and they take it very seriously.

How can they put China in the last 16, for example, skinny and ugly, or a common face as India, instead of the Goddesses from Bolivia or Colombia, and amazingly they did not even make it among the 16.

I don't understand how people think Philippines could be the one... She has beautiful face for her race, beautiful hair, but her body is boyish, no hips, no curves, and no derriere. Has she had fuller curves, she would probably made it, but she is super flat. I have seen plenty of videos an pictures.

The reason why Latinas always make it to the top is because they show attitude, exude feminism, and great posture. For Venezuelans is like a career. They breath it, and the manager of the contest handles it very well. They are not necessarily the prettiest, but they definitely prepare them very well. They make their presence felt. And of course, with the help of surgery.

Venezuela, although beautiful body, not the prettiest face. Tons of makeup. There could be 10 faces prettier than hers, but it is also about fame. Give a dog a bad name (and hang it).

I am also totally disappointed with the contest. I feel Trump has certain favoritism with Venezuelan women, he wanted to date one of them several years ago. His orders definitely count. He always puts Venezuelan women in his apprentice show.

She did not even answer correctly. What a big fail. Brazil or Spain should of won.

Miss Venezuela works hard during a year for winning this crown you should come here for watching how they are prepared before writing many things withouth logic. Venezuela has won miss world six tomes and miss international seven times. What's the meaning of that? that shows good preparation. Miss venezuela organizaton prepares its contestants for winning

So what's up with those gigantic dentures Miss Venezuela has? Her dress was fantastic but she can't even close her mouth properly. Hello am I the only one who saw them? I think Spain was the best of the 5 finalists. Puerto Rico was beautiful she was ignored :(

i've seen this beauty pageant evolved during the 90's up to 2010's and changes are but inevitable... i am a filipino and you might judge me as being bias..but the results last night was really the worst. during the announcement, I silently prayed that venezuela would not win because, if otherwise, then i eventually lose my trust in the pageant. i don't like to bash the winner but i am not sure if miss universe organization this time (including the judges) are being objective when it comes with choosing the winner. the standard of beauty should be universal (that's why it is called ms universe)..if one country allows minor plastic surgery for a contestant to enter into a beauty pageant, that wouldn't mean it is acceptable to others.

last night's winner was a product of a commercialized beauty; an image of beauty that are only acceptable in advanced countries such as the US, the level of A celebs stars or the ones we see in Hollywood; where aesthetics measures true beauty instead of the other intrinsic characteristics, serving as the basis for beauty such as intelligence and bearing. substance over form, in short.

during the nineties, i admired the winners..aside from the femininity the organization tried to advocate..there is something worth idolizing with the winners. it's like the good ones or the most deserving ones win, the princesses or the queenly ones who looked kind and can be reached.

last night's pageant, i realized that it is no longer about the contestant having the most intelligent answer and humble beginnings, yet the ones who looked sophisticated, strong, fierce, domineering and assertive woman. it's about girl power whose confidently beautiful yet lacking substance. someone who is a symbol of a corporate power instead of a cause.

uhmm, i don't know if i'll view the pageant the same way as before..but hopefully someday, the naturally beautiful ones will win, those underdogs yet deserving, those possessing real beauty inspite of not  being perfectly articulate, yet could raise a point will eventually be given a chance. those who are ready to serve for a cause.

however, as of the moment, we still hold on to the definition of beauty with the current miss organization owners have..but this will not long as everything has it end. when in the future, true beauty (with brains) will stand out.

@Melissande Melissa,I don't know which country you come from, but I am sure there are so much wonderful people living in there, and when they probably win gold medals in the Olympics, we don't claim that was unfair or call them fake doped athletes, or something. We accept the victory, we accept we didn't win because they did better than us. That's called dignity.

@brower8 It is so fun to read how some people just can't take being good losers, and that's really bad for them. As they know they have no more arguments for a civilized discussion, they start showing up their racist hidden feelings. They need to move on and realize they are on 21st century, caveman are gone by now!

Yes,  At the end of WWII, many, many Nazi Germans escaped to South America to avoid prosecution from wartime crimes.  They settled in countries like: Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, etc.  That is the reason why many South Americans have non-hispanic surnames.  That's nothing new; we all know it!

Yes, indeed, you are quite right.  The Ms. Venezuela Organization works very, very hard to produce a rag doll that can win any contest in the world!  The individuals who work the hardest in this endeavor are, of course, the plastic surgeons!

AngelBendito: Another point, I do NOT think that Ms. Venezuela was the “best” contestant.  It is my opinion (which neither you nor anyone else has to share), that there were other participants better qualified to win the crown that she was.  And please, just because your moniker is “angel bendito,” don’t start thinking of yourself as a real angel!  You are being annoyingly pompous!!!

Melissande
Melissande

@Angeldebendito @Melissande

AngelBendito:  You are absolutely and willingly missing the point! It is not that I do not accept Ms. Venezuela’s triumph at the Ms. Universe Pageant.  She won the crown and whether I like it or not, does not matter at all.  But, I (and whomever else wants to) have the right to say that I do not agree with the judges’ decision (and why I do not agree.)  And that’s exactly what bothers people like you.  You want everyone to share your opinions, and when one does not, you are insulted and start pontificating (or as others have done on this page, insulting!)  I won’t have that!  I live in a country that is still free, and I (and everyone else) here have a right to state our opinions (be it by speaking or commenting on a web page in the Internet.)  Like I have written before, whoever does not like my comments, is more than welcome to ignore them and move on.

@Angeldebendito @brower8

AngelBendito: Well, it’s certainly nice to see that you are having fun!  After all, with all your moralizing & sermonizing in your previous comment, you were sounding like one sad & repressed troll!  But, wait a minute, here you go once again:  Missing the point of other people’s comments! Some of us were sidetracked from the main topic of Ms. Universe, and we started commenting on how many of the past Ms. Universe winners from Venezuela (and other Latin countries too), had non-Hispanic sounding surnames (which is true.)  From there, we jumped to the true fact that at the end of WWII, many former Nazi Germans moved to South America to escape prosecution from war crimes.  Also, many Jews and other war refugees immigrated to America (North, South, Central) looking for a better life.  And those people became the ancestors of many modern day Hispanics (and that’s the reason for the non-Hispanic sounding surnames.) Only a complete moron like YOU can mistake our comments for racism!  Whenever cretins such as you cannot understand what others are talking about, they always jump to the wrong conclusion.  And the favorite crutch for these imbeciles (YOU included) is to immediately start yelling the “R” word!  You are an idiot and an ignoramus!  Crawl back to your slimy cave, slithering reptile!

DanielHutnicki

It wasnt just Nazi who came to South America.  Many refugees in Europe after WWII had an easier time getting into S. American. So while Nazis did move to S. American so did many other refugees

@mertdalak @fiantella You must be Asian, logically. I don't want o sound insulting, but I have to say that most Asian women don't have curves, no hips, and no derriere. China's face was ugly and old. Unfortunately those are characteristics that don't help most Asian women. Just admit it.
