The New Scientist reports that researchers at the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences in Dresden, Germany, have created “biobots” or “spermbots” out of metal and bull sperm. Led by Oliver Schmidt, scientists put a fluid containing bull sperm in a 50-micron-long microtube containing iron and titanium particles and controlled its movements using a magnetic field. The goal is to eventually use these biobots for fertilization and drug administration.
