Have we become such sheeple that we except such mealy-mouthed, self-referential baffle-gab?

This all sounds pretty Big Brother-y, but a Facebook rep told Slate that collecting this information falls safely under the company’s Data Use Policy.

You cannot state that an action, that clearly needs a vetting by a higher power to decide if said action is allowed or not, can be negated by simply stating that it is allowed because "THEY" have deemed it so, (in their policy.)

Just because they can and said they can, doesn't make it so, or just, or legal.

If you talked to your mother like this when you 5, she'd a slapped your saucy mouth!

Where is the ACLU on these fascists?

When did we have that conversation this $#!+mouths claim we had, that we gave up our 'reasonable' right to privacy? Don't remember that…

Just because they've found a way to steam open our letters and reseal them, without us knowing about it, doesn't mean it's now allowed or legal.

This is not surprising to hear. The key understanding every prospective or current social media user needs to come to grips with: all data you create with content, sharing, etc. is used by the respective social channel for their gain in some form. What do people value more: pure privacy or connecting with individuals and brands?

It's way beyond the point that people should start using privacy-based services such as DuckDuckGo, Ravetree, HushMail, etc. We should no longer use facebook, google, or any of the other companies whose sole purpose is to collect our personal information. Tell everyone! Stop being so passive about your privacy.

I have a very minimal presence on Facebook. There's something creepy about the whole meta-data thing. For me it's like someone watching me on the toilet; nothing very harmful but...creepy.
