It’s hard to argue against the fact that Morgan Freeman played a convincing Nelson Mandela in the 2009 movie Invictus, and a billboard designer in India was seemingly so convinced by the actor that Freeman’s photo was used instead of the late South African leader’s in a memorial.
The mix-up was discovered Thursday outside of the southern city of Coimbatore, AFP reports, with a photo of the 76-year-old actor on a memorial dedicated to the anti-apartheid icon, who died Dec. 5. The merchant who paid for the billboard, which also features images of Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., blamed the error on the designer. He said it will be replaced.
The cycle of confusing Morgan Freeman for other people, however, will likely continue.
