In SNL‘s first episode of 2014, rapper Drake — who served as both host and musical guest — played everyone from A-Rod to to Katt Williams. But in his monologue, he simply played himself. He took a few moments to apologize for starting the whole YOLO craze and discuss his days as a star on the Canadian teen drama Degrassi.

But the highlight of Drizzy’s monologue came in the form of a flashback — a flashback to his Bar Mitzvah. (For the uninitiated: Drake has a Jewish mother and a black father.) Watch here as he raps about this wonderful blend of cultures: “Chillin’ in Boca Raton with my mensch Lenny Kravitz / The only purple drink we sip is purple Manischewitz.”
