China’s ‘Bacon Apartment’ Is Probably Not a Hit With The Neighbors

Chinese bacon, known as la rou, differs from its Western counterpart in that it’s made of pork belly, and air-cured. However, the process is generally not undertaken on a residential balcony, which is why these images of a “bacon apartment” in the central Chinese city of Wuhan have gone viral in social media over the past few days. With smog-levels in Wuhan currently at an “unhealthy” level, the apartment dweller could conceivably get away with labeling his meats as “smoked” as well.
