After her hilarious turn as inmate, stripper and MacGruber matriarch on Saturday Night Live, it’s worth asking the question: Is there anything that Betty White can’t do? Well today we received a partial answer, in the form of a Daytime Emmy snub.
Despite a strong push to get White to host the Daytime Emmy ceremony – which would have resulted in throngs of young people learning for the first time about the awards program known as the Daytime Emmys – the nominations failed to recognize her recurring appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful, where White played Stephanie’s vile mother, who eventually died in her daughter’s embrace.
It may not have been the boldest role around, but I’ve been told it a was a beautiful supporting spot well worth a nod. So the Emmys are out, apparently, but there’s always a chance that the Oscars could still be in. 52,000 Facebook users have signed up as fans of the Betty White Academy Awards page. Just think: 52,000 new people who could have been tuning into the Daytime Emmys…
