Campaign finance reform has its couples edition.

Between now and May 18, the terms of the plan are simple. Donate a little dough to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, and earn a chance to spend a day in New York with her husband, former president Bill Clinton.

The reason for Mrs. Clinton’s request? A massive pile of debt from her White House run, which the New York Times reports to be near $771,000 as of last April.

Who does Mrs. Clinton owe? Mark Penn, her chief political strategist and pollster. Back in February 2008, he explained to the New York Observer his side of the campaign story.
