French fries are in a frenzy. For the first time since disco, America’s top ketchup company is changing its main recipe.
The New York Post reports that Heinz is shaking up its tomato-based treasure by lowering salt content to create a healthier condiment.
One tablespoon of the Pittsburgh-based giant’s ketchup currently contains 190 milligrams of salt, which is nearly eight percent of the recommended daily intake of 2,400 milligrams. And as TIME food columnist Josh Ozersky writes, our bodies need only 1,500 milligrams per day.
