Hold onto your hats: Lady Gaga is coming for you. The sultry songstress wants to undertake an internship with renowned hat designer Philip Treacy.
Treacy recently designed some headwear for Gaga’s Monster Ball tour and now Gaga hopes to return the favor. “She requested an internship but nothing has been set in stone yet,” a spokesperson for Treacy has confirmed.
The Irish-born milliner has spent years designing hats for the likes of Karl Lagerfield, Valentino, and the late Gianni Versace and Alexander McQueen. But this would surely be his greatest challenge, channeling Gaga’s unique sense of style and making those frankly ridiculous lobster and telephone hats not look out of place on the high street.
Is he likely to accept the offer? He told Culture Map in March that, “Lady Gaga is definitely interesting but she chooses from what I make.” And she does follow his golden rule: keep the hat on. “You wouldn’t take your underwear off at an event would you?” he said. “You miss the whole point if you take it off.”
Lady Gaga then. Singer. Style guru. TIME 100 honoree. Hat maker. Please adjust your records accordingly.
