What a difference four years makes.

In 2006, despite having no English Premier League experience, then-17-year-old Theo Walcott made Britain’s 2006 World Cup squad. On Tuesday, ESPN reports that manager Fabio Capello left Walcott of 2010’s 23-man roster.

“I am very disappointed not to be included but completely respect Mr Capello’s decision,” Walcott told ESPN. “I would like to wish the team best of luck.”

Here are some fast facts on the 21-year-old.

– Born on March 16, 1989 in Newbury, Berkshire, U.K.
– Made his professional debut at age 16 for Southampton, becoming the team’s youngest player in history
– Joined Arsenal in January 2006, initially signing as a scholar until his 17th birthday, when he was then able to sign a professional deal
– Limited by shoulder, back, knee and hamstring injuries in 2010, which held him to 15 starts for Arsenal this season
– Notched a hat trick in September 2008 against Croatia, helping England score a 4-1 2010 World Cup qualifying victory
– Was recalled to England’s World Cup team in March 2010 and was in the fold for June play until Tuesday’s decision
