Start spreading the news. When it comes to driving, you don’t want to be a part of it.
ABC News reports that for the second year in a row, New York has earned the illustrious title of the nation’s worst state to drive in. Rounding out the bottom five in GMAC Insurance’s annual survey are neighboring New Jersey, our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C., a west-coast rival in California and the country’s resident miniature in Rhode Island.
Among the best states are Kansas, Oregon, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa, where slightly less traffic roams the roads.
What’s even more staggering is the ignorance of drivers who are legally behind the wheel. ABC News’ report reveals that the GMAC survey reaches out to 5,000 people across the country, asking them 20 essential driving questions. From this year’s sample size, the company found that if the results extended to the entire U.S. population, one-in-five licensed drivers would fail today’s written exam.
