In a matter of months, Jim Greer has gone from party chairman to purported criminal.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Florida’s former Republican Party head was arrested on Wednesday morning and indicted on six felony counts: organized scheme to defraud, money laundering and four instances of grand theft.

Greer has been accused of extracting money from the political organization for his personal benefit. Statewide Prosecutor William Shepherd alleges Greer created a shell company, called Victory Strategies, which helped him procure at least $100,000 from the GOP’s bank of funds.

The Sentinel also reports that Greer’s attorney, Damon Chase, said Wednesday that his client had done nothing illegal and stands to beat the set of charges.
