While most of Monday’s tech media muscle went to the new iPhone 4, Apple quietly performed a search switch-up.

CNET reports that Microsoft’s Bing is set to become a Safari search-engine option on several Mac devices. Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s senior vice president for online audience business, told CNET that Bing will be available on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and normal browsers on both Mac and PC platforms.

Google will remain an option on all devices.

The news comes a few days after Microsoft announced it was ending Bing Cashback, an option that allowed advertising merchants to gain ad space in exchange for delivering a share of the earnings back to users. Read CNET’s report on that news here.
