Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton has never held back when it comes to tasteless, borderline offensive posts. But now the web is buzzing: Did he finally go too far when he tweeted a revealing upskirt shot of Miley Cyrus who, at only 17, is still a minor?
On Sunday, Hilton reportedly tweeted a link to a photograph that revealed, well, pretty much everything of young performer Miley Cyrus. Wearing a dress and climbing out of a car, Cyrus was momentarily exposed for all to see. And according to Salon, Hilton’s tweet provocatively proclaimed, “If you are easily offended, do NOT click here.”
The tweet—and photo—have since been deleted.
Now Hilton is under fire from critics who say that the photo amounts to more than just bad taste; It may have also crossed a legal line.
Although this isn’t the first time revealing or provocative shots of Cyrus have circulated, the alleged explicitness of the photo raises the situation from offensive to quite possibly criminal. Los Angeles criminal defense attorney, Jeffrey Douglas, told Salon that Hilton’s dissemination of photo meant his liability was “extraordinary and intense,” and that it was “suicidal for him to do this.”
While Hilton has managed to overcome legal fire in the past (he’s been involved in copyright and defamation lawsuits over Internet posts before), some are speculating that this time he could be facing jail time—perhaps up to 15 years. (via Salon)
