A feel-good movie about Bin Laden? Really?
A new controversial Bollywood comedy, Tere Bin Laden (Without You Laden), is coming out in Indian theaters tomorrow. The film is about a struggling Pakistani journalist (Pakistani pop star and heartthrob Ali Zafar) who tries to sell an interview with a fake Bin Laden to American news media organizations. The movie is set in Karachi, Pakistan, but filmed in India on a modest $2 million budget.
Even though the title was changed to Tere Bin (Without You) for the release in Pakistan and stars a Pakistani celebrity, the movie has already been banned in the country to avoid terrorist attacks, reports Variety.
Lately, Bollywood directors have been straying from the standard formula of action movies and weepy love stories and producing more controversial films. Last month, actor Anupam Kher pulled out of Dear Friend Hitler after protests from the Indian Jewish community.
