Lights, camera, action.

For a group of men trapped underground, the Chilean miners seem to be in good spirits.

In the first video footage of the miners, taken by the men on a camera sent down through a small, drilled shaft, they sing Chile’s national anthem and give a tour of their temporary lodgings.

One miner points out their space has enough room to stand and lie down, and they have designated areas for prayer, assembly, playing cards and brushing teeth. They express optimism, greet their families and praise their country.

The video was originally 45 minutes long and broadcast on Chilean television. Though the miners seem sweaty and dehydrated, experts say they appear to be in good health, though they still have a long way to go before they can get home.
