It’s official: Americans like browsing photos of old friends more than searching for actually relevant information.

According to data from comScore, Inc, Facebook has surpassed all of Google’s sites — including search, Gmail and even YouTube — in Web traffic. Americans spent 41.1 million minutes on Facebook in August, compared to 39.8 million minutes on Google sites and 37.7 million minutes on Yahoo sites.  The results are estimates based on data from websites’ servers and reports from two million Internet users.

With a scandalous movie about his company heading to theaters, this is one new development Mark Zuckerberg can smile about.
