Gotham Tornado: Amazing Photo of Twister Passing Statue of Liberty

This photo comes courtesy of Dave Carlson’s Twitter feed – not sure if he took the photo, or merely found it online.

A tornado warning was issued late Thursday afternoon for Brooklyn and Queens – two outer boroughs of New York City. The National Weather Service reported a tornado passing through the heavily populated Park Slope neighborhood in southern Brooklyn – and you can see various images of Park Slope damage here.

It’s a freak event, a tornado in the heart of New York City, and the image above may be once in a lifetime – a tornado passing by the Statue of Liberty, en route to the busy streets of Brooklyn across the East River.
