Wyclef Jean will definitely be “Gone til November,” and beyond, as he drops his presidential bid for Haiti.

Although the hip hop star’s announcement comes a month after his candidacy was formally rejected, his plans to appeal this decision have been sidelined. The Haitian-born singer was told by the electoral council that he could not run for president because he had failed strict residency requirements.

“Some battles are best fought off the field, and that is where we take this now,” Jean said.

The Fugees singer now plans to focus on his next album entitled “If I Were President: The Haitian Experience.”
