Nothing says “happy birthday to me” like releasing an album that will likely make you serious cash. The downside? Releasing it from jail.

Rapper Lil Wayne, who is serving a sentence at New York’s Rikers Island, not only turned 28 today; he also released his eighth album — I Am Not a Human Being — online. While the full version won’t hit stores until Oct. 12, the online version has 10 tracks, and releasing it on Weezy’s birthday is a way “to show people he’s always in the building,” friend and collaborator Birdman told MTV.com.

Lil Wayne has been in jail since March for felony gun charges. In May, he was busted by guards for possessing “music contraband,” which included earphones and a charger for a watch that doubled as a digital music player.

Worth it? Well, let’s see how the album does. (via the Daily News)
