The last viral ‘fact’ we heard about Chuck Norris went along the lines of this: “when Chuck Norris dives into a swimming pool, he doesn’t get wet, the pool gets Chuck Norris.” The news that he is now an honorary Texas Ranger — as far as we can tell — is actually true. (Not that NewsFeed is suggesting in any way that Chuck Norris did not roundhouse kick his way out of a black hole.)

Texas Governor Rick Perry has presented the actor, veteran of the U.S. Air Force, martial arts expert and general all-around manly man with the distinction of honorary Texas Ranger. Norris immortalized the life of the Texas Ranger when he starred in and directed the hit 90’s show, Walker, Texas Ranger.

Norris initially found fame when his success in the fighting ring led to a role in the Dean Martin film, Wrecking Ball in 1969 and is remembered throughout much of the world, especially in Asia, for his rivalry with Bruce Lee in the 1974 movie, Way of the Dragon (see TIME’s Top 10 Movie Duels). Norris’ younger brother, Aaron Norris, who is a producer and stunt co-coordinator, has also been given the distinction — which should mean Texas should watch its back. (Via CBS)
