So Long Glee Cast: Some Characters Getting Too Old for the Show

In keeping with his belief that “There’s nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot,” Glee creator Ryan Murphy said some cast members of the hit show would probably be let go — errr, graduate — at the end of 2012.

While Gleeks are sure to miss some of their favorite stars, you can’t really argue with Murphy’s logic. The actors playing the musical students are already beyond their high school years. In 2012, Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) turns 30. We’re not saying he’ll start losing his hair at that ripe young age …. But, sadly, among the myriad disadvantages of not being a cartoon is aging. Unlike the Simpsons, these characters can’t stay in school forever. ‘Cause, you know, this show is realistic: They’re not just bursting into song randomly. They’re bursting into song because they’re in glee club.

Fortunately, teachers don’t graduate, so Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester can torment McKinley High kids — and entertain us — for years to come. (via News.com.au.)
