A Little Respect, Please: Nicole ‘Don’t Call Me Snooki’ Polizzi Is An Author Now

There comes a point in every person’s life when they decide it’s time to shed the shackles of an awkward moniker.

Unfortunately, if you happen to have become famous under said moniker, it’s usually a bit more difficult. Just ask Marky Mark Wahlberg, Robert “Vanilla Ice” Van Winkle or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson–people don’t just forget.

Now little reality star Snooki has seemingly decided that with her new turn as co-author of the novel A Shore Thing, she should be called by her given name, Nicole. She told the New York Daily News that she now prefers to be called Nicole, despite going by Snooki on the fame-making show The Jersey Shore.

How likely is it that people will actually start calling the cart-wheeling, pint-sized “guidette” by her given name? Well considering that even the cover of her book exiles her real name to the corner in tiny print, while “Snooki” is the second-largest thing on the cover (her hair pouf has never been poufier), chances are she’ll be known as Snooki for a little longer.
