What would “Jeremy” sound like on a ukelele? If this career move takes off, we might one day find out.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, known for his grunge classics, is taking a more laid-back turn with a solo ukelele album. Titled, vaguely, Ukelele Songs, the album will feature a mixture of original songs and covers, including songs like “Dream a Little Dream” by The Mamas and the Papas. Most striking, though, is Vedder’s ukelele cover of his own Pearl Jam song, “Can’t Keep.”

Ukelele Songs will be released on May 30, and will feature collaborations with Cat Power and Glen Hansard. May will be a busy month for Vedder, as he will also be releasing a live concert DVD. On the DVD, though, Vedder will remain electric.
