NewsFeed also went to a stag do (the British term for Bachelor Party) over the weekend, but it wasn’t for Prince William. Our absence, of course, is the future King of England’s loss.

But we suspect you’re not particularly interested in how NewsFeed spent its spare time (curry and beer were involved), but you do want the lowdown on one of Prince William’s final weekends of freedom before he ties the knot with Kate Middleton. But the reality is that NewsFeed might have ended up having the wilder night. After details of the original day leaked out, Prince Harry’s previous plans of high speed boats and water skiing were out of the question.

Instead, the brothers and approximately 20 pals had a low-key, couple of days at a large Norfolk estate, and details are frustratingly thin on the ground (if NewsFeed had to guess, we suspect hunting might have been involved). “I can confirm that Prince William’s stag party happened this weekend,”a source at St James’s Palace said. “It was an entirely private event and we don’t intend to make any further comment.” In other words, what happened in Norfolk, stays in Norfolk.

But we do know that the stag do that never was would have involved a variety of water sports in Exmouth, Devon, before the all-important trip to the Turf Locks pub for the ensuing party (journalists nevertheless went to the River Exe hoping for a glimpse of the party). Guy Pelly, the nightclub owner, is believed to have planned the stag with Prince Harry and talk about living within your means: the Daily Express claimed that the entire cost of the weekend wasn’t going to exceed £2,500 ($4,000). In London’s nightclubbing circles, that barely gets you a table.

One of the guests, Thomas van Straubenzee, who went to school with William, told the Daily Telegraph that, “I’m very sorry but I have got to keep it a secret. I hope you understand.” NewsFeed understands, Mr. van Straubenzee, and is willing to draw a line under the entire incident if we can be your +1 to the actual wedding. And we won’t tell a single soul about the events of April 29.
